Some artists sculpt statues or paint pictures, while others might prefer to express themselves through their cars. The Lyon-Waugh Auto Group will be supporting local students from both groups with its participation in the Peabody Veterans Memorial High School 1st Annual Car Show on May 3 and its sponsorship of the Artrageous!26 art auction fundraiser at the Montserrat College of Art on May 12.

Peabody Veterans Memorial High School will be holding its student-run car show to not only encourage the ingenuity that students display by modifying their vehicle, but to help educate about responsible driving as well. Students can register for $5 with a car, truck or motorcycle that they own and operate, and all proceeds will benefit the nonprofit Healthy Peabody Collaborative and its efforts to promote safe driving awareness in the community.

The Peabody Veterans Memorial High School 1st Annual Car Show was created by Wrbasi Ramirez, a senior in the school’s vocational program. A panel of judges, including a representative from Lyon-Waugh, will award trophies to the first-, second- and third-place overall winners. Meanwhile, award plaques will go to winners in specialized categories, including People’s Choice, Best Interior, Best Sound System, Best Exterior/Wheels, Best Truck and Best Motorcycle.

“We all remember how exciting it was to get behind the wheel as a teenager, so we’re glad to help encourage driving in the community that is stylish, but more importantly, safe,” said Cidalia Schwartz, marketing director of the Lyon-Waugh Auto Group, which includes Acura of Peabody, BMW of Peabody, Audi of Nashua, Porsche of Nashua, MINI of Bedford, MINI of Peabody and Land Rover Peabody. “Our area high school students have a lot to show off, and it’ll be great to have their work support a worthy cause like the Healthy Peabody Collaborative.”
